TRAFFIC CHANGES
(Also see the downloadble Transport & Traffic Guide- available in the downloads section)
From midnight on Sunday 19 October traffic within the precinct will switch to one-way travelling in an anti-clockwise direction. Speed restrictions of 40km/h will also be in place and enforced for the Queensland Police.

The southbound lanes on the Gold Coast Highway from Tedder Ave to Marriott intersection will be closed to all traffic from 12.01am on Monday 20 October and will reopen at 5.00pm on Monday 27 October 2008.

The Gold Coast Hwy northbound lanes will operate as a two way road from the Marriott intersection to Tedder Ave during this period. No right turns will be permitted on the Gold Coast Hwy from Cypress Avenue to Waterways Dr and access to this road will be restricted.

Cronin Avenue and Aloha Lane, Main Beach will be changed to one way traffic flow eastbound from Monday October 20 to Monday 27 October.

On Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 October, Police will divert southbound traffic (with the exception of buses, taxis, limousines and on-track resident vehicles) into Ada Bell Way approximately 10 minutes prior to the end of racing. This is to allow the safe exit of event patrons. During this period traffic from Waterways Drive will be directed northbound only onto the Gold Coast Highway. Access will still be permitted to Main Beach and Sea World Drive.

Other traffic diversions will be in place leading up to and after the event for installation and removal of track infrastructure.

Entertainment activities within Cavill Avenue, Elkhorn Avenue, Orchid Avenue and The Esplanade area require the closure of these streets between 7.15pm and 8.30pm on the Friday and Saturday night of the Event - for full information on this and other off-track activities please visit www.indy.com.au

Due to the changes to traffic arrangements during this period, lengthy delays can be expected. It is advisable to use alternative routes, or take public transport to the event. ROAD CLOSURES
17th October
On the 17th October 2008, Gold Coast Hwy will be closed between the Ferny Ave intersection (Marriott Hotel) and Cypress Avenue. The two southbound lanes of traffic on the Gold Coast Highway will be diverted into Surfers Paradise Boulevard. Access back on to the Gold Coast Highway can be gained through any of the side streets including Ocean Ave, Staghorn Ave, Pandanus Ave, Palm Ave and Cypress Ave to continue south.

Event Week
As of 12.01am Monday 20th October 2008, traffic conditions change within the Precinct as follows:

The Gold Coast Highway will operate one lane of traffic in both directions from Cavill Avenue to Waterways Drive for the above period, with one lane of traffic dedicated to Emergency vehicle use. No right turns will be permitted over this length.
