OFF TRACK EVENTS ADD TO THE POWER OF LEXMARK INDY 300

A power packed listing of Official Off Track Events has been finalised to supplement the spectacular On Track action at the Lexmark Indy 300.
From October 19 to 22 the Gold Coast will come alive with an influx of visitors to enjoy one of Australia’s most comprehensive schedules of entertainment events and activities, all supporting the main show – the Lexmark Indy 300.
The Lexmark Indy 300 Gala Ball at Conrad Jupiters, WPS Black and Silver Indy Luncheon at Palazzo Versace, Niecon ‘Licensed to Thrill’ Gillette V8 Supercar Lunch and Champ Car Driver’s Breakfast are established events on the Off Track Events calendar.
Meanwhile new events like the Prokart 12-hour endurance kart spectacular, the Corona Fiesta at Saks Restaurant and some great live entertainment with The Angels at Hard Rock Café on Indy Saturday and Taxiride at Billy’s Beach House on Indy Sunday will expand the entertainment program.
Surfers Paradise is the home of the Lexmark Indy 300 track and it will also be the heart of the Off Track activities.
The atmosphere will be electric and abuzz throughout the four big days and four big nights with the Surfers Paradise Driver’s Parade on Thursday, the Surfers Paradise Street Parade on Friday and Saturday, and the Mister Indy Grand Final 2006 amongst a host of Indy-fied events.
When darkness falls Surfers Paradise transforms into a giant party, with some of the best parties headed by the Ralph Indy Fever Party at Iluka Beach Resort on Friday and the Bartercard Miss Indy and Champ Car driver’s celebrity dinner and charity auction at Hard Rock Café earlier in the week on Tuesday.
Surfers Paradise Management CEO Liliana Montague said the Off Track entertainment was an important part of the atmosphere and excitement that attracts international sporting teams, corporate groups and tourists each year.
“Surfers Paradise features on the world stage during the Lexmark Indy 300 and it’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase what this destination can offer,” said Ms Montague.
“This year we’re introducing a few new twists to our highlight events with a special ‘meet the drivers’ session after the Driver Parade and live music played off the back of eight-tonne trucks for the Surfers Paradise Street Parade,” she said.
The entertainment will not be limited to Surfers Paradise with Main Beach, Southport and Broadbeach also playing host to some exciting events.
The free annual Powerblitz event is blasting into the Broadwater Park in Southport on the Friday night of the Lexmark Indy 300 providing a great family night out ahead of the big weekend of racing.
Feature activities and attractions at the Powerblitz include the Indy Supa Street show n’shine, supa 50s mini bike racing, jet motorcycle, the Harley show, stunt motorcycles, burnouts, drift and drag cars on show, special guest bands, and dance shows. The night will then finish off with a huge jet fire show by ‘Mad Ron’ in the 1942 World War II Blitz Army truck.
Director of Raceline Events Ian Badock is proud to have his event involved in the action-packed Off Track events schedule.
“The Powerblitz provides a free, family-focused event on the Friday night of the event. It provides an alternative to the party atmosphere in Surfers Paradise that all ages can enjoy,” said Badock.
“The Lexmark Indy 300 management aim to spread the Off Track entertainment around the Gold Coast so that all the people of the Gold Coast can get involved with the event.”
Lexmark Indy 300 Chairman Terry Mackenroth said the Lexmark Indy 300 is a carnival of entertainment that captivates the entire Gold Coast.
“While the Lexmark Indy 300 brings some of the world’s hottest motor racing action to the Gold Coast, the entertainment is not limited to just the race track but extends around the Gold Coast with a plethora of functions, parties and events,” said Mackenroth.
“The sheer number and wide range of Off Track events ensures that there is something for people of all tastes, ages and interests.”
