INDYFEST SET TO START A MAJOR INTERNATIONAL MUSICAL TRADITION

Tuesday, 25 September 2007
The inaugural Indyfest musical spectacular on the Gold Coast has further confirmed its world-class line-up of artists to provide the perfect entertainment spectacle to complement this year’s Lexmark Indy 300 from October 18-21.

Headlined by renowned rock American artists GOOD CHARLOTTE, Australian support act on their World tour, KISSCHASY has also accepted an invitation to take centre stage on what is hoped will become a regular haunt for International touring bands to Australia.

To be held at the Southport Broadwater carpark, Indyfest has assembled a mix of rock, alternative, dance and electronic beats to ensure fans ‘Power On’ during the encore eight and a half hour presentation starting at 2pm, Saturday October 20.

Fellow Australian rock bands BUTTERFINGERS and SHORT STACK are also confirmed while hitting the decks with TV ROCK, featuring SEANY B, are The POTBELLEEZ and Gold Coast’s very own International act STAFFORD BROTHERS.

Many more bands and DJ’s are still to be announced for Indyfest, which is set to rock the Lexmark Indy 300 and music lovers alike.

Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden, who is the fiancé of Gold Coast’s own film and pop starlet Sophie Monk, is excited to have been included on the feature bill for an event that is destined to break new ground for Australian music.

“Music festivals are always a fun way to get up close with the fans and to be doing the very first Indyfest in Australia is a buzz for the entire band,” said Madden.

“In October the Gold Coast already has the sun, sand, surf plus a major event like Indy, so combining that with great music is a guaranteed recipe for success.

“From what we’ve already heard about Indy it has a massive party atmosphere and for us to be rocking alongside all the major motor racing action will make for an even bigger reason to celebrate what the place has to offer.

Good Charlotte are using Indyfest as part of the tour to promote their new album ‘Good Morning Revival’ and they will also be featured on the pre-event entertainment program at this year’s Lexmark Indy 300 on Sunday October 21.

The addition of support band from the Good Morning Revival Tour, Kisschasy coupled with the numerous first class International acts already confirmed, makes Indyfest a must for all during the four day/four night carnival at this year’s Lexmark Indy 300.

Following KISSCHASY’S 2005 smash hit debut, ‘United Paper People’, their new album ‘Hymns For The Nonbeliever’ introduces a fresh sound, more rocking than ever.

Brisbane’s BUTTERFINGERS have also been selling out shows across Australia and with their new single ‘Nothin Much Happens’, they will have you making good use of your dancing shoes.

Hailing from Sydney, SHORT STACK are fast emerging as one of the hottest young bands in Australia since launching their emo style act online earlier this year and have recently signed an International deal with Sunday Morning Records.

TV ROCK burst into the mainstream in early 2006 with their smash hit ‘Flaunt It’ and are set to take the house down with their set featuring Seany B.

The POTBELLEEZ are Dave Goode and Jonny Sonic, two Producer DJ’s from Dublin, Ireland, who are now living, recording and performing in Sydney, Australia. The Potbelleez are a multi talented dance act with a signature live performance, a unique four deck, two mixer HOUSE set that has established them as rising stars in the Sydney Scene.

Proud local Gold Coast boys and club kings, THE STAFFORD BROTHERS, will be hitting the stage at Indyfest showing revellers why their sell out performances in clubs across the nation have seen the brothers become one of the leading DJ forces in Australia.

Lexmark Indy 300 Entertainment and Events Manager Josh Martin said the event has always wanted to hold a premium concert as part of the already jam-packed off-track events calendar.

“We have attracted the best of the best available talent to headline the first Indyfest which makes for the perfect accompaniment to all that will be happening on-track during this year’s Lexmark Indy 300,” said Martin.

“Our event is recognised globally for what has been achieved during the first 16 years of its existence and through the addition of Indyfest we’re looking at providing an even bigger and better entertainment spectacle well into the future.”

“Good Charlotte is one of the most happening bands in the world and they are coming to the hottest race event destination in the world so there’s a perfect link there.”

“Lexmark Indy 300 has always been the biggest party of the year, and with the help of Empire Events we are going to take it to a whole new level.”

Managing Director for Empire Events Alex Prelac has been working closely with Lexmark Indy 300 and the Gold Coast City Council to bring Indyfest to life.

“Indyfest is going to be huge. We are really giving it everything we’ve got to make it an iconic element of Indy for years to come.”

“Indyfest will attract people from all walks of life, car lovers and music lovers alike, who are looking for a fun night out full of jam-packed entertainment.”

“Tickets went on sale last week and the response has been strong with sales coming from the both the general public and Lexmark Indy 300 ticket holders.”

“Indyfest is definitely the not-to-be-missed event on the Lexmark Indy 300 calendar,” Mr Prelac said.

This inaugural event is set to become an iconic element to the Lexmark Indy 300 celebrations and is expected to draw a massive crowd.

Indyfest is happening on Saturday 20th October from 2:00pm to 10:30pm at the Southport Broadwater Park opposite Australia Fair.

As part of their Australian tour Good Charlotte are also appearing at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre Tuesday October 9. Final ticket release on sale now through Ticketek.
