GOLD COAST GIRL HAS CHANCE TO SHINE ON INTERNATIONAL STAGE

Thursday, 11 October 2007
A 22 year old aspiring vocalist from the Gold Coast has been included in a star-studded international pre-race entertainment program at this year’s Lexmark Indy 300.

Nikki Bowling of Runaway Bay will sing alongside World rock sensations Good Charlotte and local newcomers Small Mercies immediately before the 17th running of the Lexmark Indy 300 next Sunday October 21.

Nikki is charged with singing the national anthems of both Australia and America in a major highlight of her burgeoning career.

Not only will Nikki’s performance be witnessed by an anticipated capacity house at the annual motorsports showcase, her renditions will be beamed throughout 170 countries world-wide.

Today Nikki visited the scene of her breakout performance and understandably was very excited to be included on such a strong billing of musical talent.

“I’m looking forward to this great opportunity and to be able to perform on such a major International stage in front of family and friends is a great honour,” said Bowling.

“This is definitely the major highlight of my short career so far.

“It’s my twenty-third birthday next Friday during Indy so I couldn’t have asked for a better present to mark such a milestone event.

“My ambition is to travel the World while enjoying a career in music so I really must thank the organisers of the Lexmark Indy 300 for this great opportunity.

“To be on the pre-race bill with Good Charlotte and Small Mercies is going to be a sensational experience.

“Hopefully I’ll have the opportunity to chat with them and gain further insight into how best to pursue my own dreams into the future.”

Nikki, who started out singing in school choirs as an eight year-old, was born in Bega, New South Wales but has lived in Brisbane and the Gold Coast the past 17 years

This talented young lady is inspired by legendary artists like Aretha Franklin, Carol King, Etta James and Stevie Wonder

Modern vocalists Pink, Alicia Keys and Christina Aguilera are also a great inspiration.

Nikki is currently writing songs for her debut album, a craft she has been implementing into her entertainment repertoire since the age of 14, and currently plays the local music scene in and around Southeast Queensland with her regular band ‘Charisma’.
