NEW LEXMARK INDY 300 CHIEF APPOINTED

Queensland’s Premier Event, the Lexmark Indy 300 has appointed Mr Ken Freer as its new General Manager. Mr Freer will replace current General Manager Mr James O’Brien at the conclusion of the 2005 Event which runs from October 20-23.

Mr Freer is the former Managing Director of Castlemaine Perkins Brewery in Queensland.

The Lexmark Indy 300 is a partnership between the Queensland Government and IMG.

IMG, Asia Pacific Managing Director, Mr Martin Jolly said Mr Freer would commence work on October 10 to ensure an orderly transition and to provide an opportunity for him to meet with key stakeholders and experience first hand all facets of the event.

“We are delighted Ken has agreed to join us as the new General Manager. He brings with him a strong range of management skills and experience having worked in a successful Australian company with a portfolio of well-known consumer brands," said Mr Jolly.

“Ken will provide strong leadership to a very experienced and committed team and will help take the event to a new level in future years.”

Mr Jolly thanked O’Brien for his contribution to the Lexmark Indy 300 and wished him well for the future.

Lexmark Indy 300 Chairman, Mr John Cowley, welcomed the appointment and said he and all members of the Partnership Management Committee, which oversees the Event, look forward to working with Freer to ensure the Event's continued growth.

“Ken joins us at an important time as we work to take the Lexmark Indy 300 forward after 15 successful years. I’d also like to acknowledge and thank James O’Brien for his hard work and dedication,” said Mr Cowley.

Mr Freer said he was delighted to be joining the Lexmark Indy 300 team and was excited to be involved with such an iconic Queensland Event.

“I’ve been a fan of the Lexmark Indy 300 for many years and look forward to being a part of it,” he said.
