‘Quality’ Off Track Events finalised

Indy Fever has well and truly taken hold in Queensland with the finalisation of the 2005 Official Off Track Events Calendar.
The Lexmark Indy 300 Events Advisory Committee (EAC) has confirmed a quality schedule of 40 Off Track Events designed to captivate Queensland, with some exciting new initiatives and plenty of annual favourites on offer.
There are a number of new features added to the calendar in 2005 including the ‘V8 Supercar – Licenced To Thrill’ Luncheon at Conrad Jupiters on Wednesday October 19 from 12.30pm, followed by the inaugural Champ Car and V8 Supercar Driver’s Parade through the streets of Surfers Paradise at 5pm.
A V8 Supercar Championship Series Charity Golf Day at Hope Island Resort Golf Club on Friday October 14, and Sharon Anyos’ World Boxing Council title fight at Gold Coast Convention Centre on Saturday October 22 also headline some other new sporting events on the program in 2005.
Although the Lexmark Indy 300 doesn’t get underway until Thursday October 20, Wednesday promises to be a day of pure motor racing indulgence.
The inaugural ‘V8 Supercar – Licenced To Thrill’ luncheon will be staged at Conrad Jupiters, with tickets on sale at the Conrad Jupiters Box Office on phone (07) 5592 8303 for $69 per person or $550 per table of 8, including a two course lunch.
Then the ‘free’ Driver’s Parade coordinated by Surfers Paradise Management will officially welcome all Champ Car and V8 Supercar drivers onto the streets of Surfers Paradise in some of Australia’s best convertible hot rods presented by Raceline. Joining them for the Surfers Paradise parade will be the Bartercard Miss Indy and Bartercard Miss V8 Supercar girls.
Surfers Paradise will certainly come alive during the Lexmark Indy 300. In addition to the Driver’s Parade will be the popular annual Carnivale of Colours street parade on the Friday and Saturday nights, and the Centro Surfers Paradise Aerial Angels on Thursday night. These extraordinary aerial acrobats will perform a breathtaking show high above the crowd in Cavill Mall featuring famed performer Natalie Harris from Cirque Du Soleil’s ‘Quidam’.
There will also be a number of other popular annual Off Track Events including the Champ Car Driver’s Breakfast at Conrad Jupiters on Thursday October 20 and the traditional ‘Lexmark Indy 300 Hits Brisbane’ this year being staged in King George Square on Saturday October 1 from 10am to 1pm.
The Champ Car Driver’s Breakfast at Conrad Jupiters always whets the appetites for Champ Car fans before the drivers actually hit the track, and is traditionally the first opportunity for the public to meet and speak to the drivers in Australia. It has cemented its spot on Thursday October 20 from 8.30am with tickets just $45 available from the Conrad Jupiters Box Office on phone 07 5592 8303.
Past Gold Coast winners such as Paul Tracy, Cristiano da Matta and Ryan Hunter-Reay will feature alongside other current day stars including Australia’s own Marcus Marshall and his Team Australia compatriot Canadian Alex Tagliani, Sebastien Bourdais from France and Justin Wilson from England.
There will also be plenty of extreme action in the lead up to the Lexmark Indy 300 brought to the Gold Coast by Raceline with both Street Torque II and the King of the Coast freestyle motocross competition taking place on October 1 and 2 at Parkland Showgrounds.
Street Torque will include a display of up to 500 awesome Street Machines, custom cars, classic, rods, hi-tech imports as well as a sound off, dyno comp, Harley show, burnout comp, drag cars, bikini competition, body painting and airbrushing.
The King of the Coast is one of the biggest and toughest Freestyle Motocross competitions in Australia and this year will feature Australian international superstar Robbie Madison who is returning from Europe for the special event. Raceline is also presenting the Indy Muscle Car Show and the Indy Vette Sprints – American Muscle Car Gymkhana and Show’n’Shine, both being held at the Broadwater Car Park in Southport on Sunday October 16 and free for the public to attend.
Bartercard Miss Indy week commences with the Charity Breakfast at Mercure Resort on Tuesday October 18 from 7.45am. Tickets are $35 from Jodie McDonald on phone 07 5579 4490. All proceeds from the Bartercard Miss Indy Charity Auction are donated to the official Lexmark Indy 300 charities Surf Life Saving Queensland and CanTeen.
This year’s Judgings include Sportswear at 2pm on Saturday October 15 at Robina Town Centre; Swimwear at 7.30pm on Wednesday October 19 at Cavill Mall, Surfers Paradise; and the Grand Final at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre on Thursday October 20 starting at 7.30pm. Mano’s Restaurant at Main Beach is also a place to go during the Lexmark Indy 300. ‘Start your Engines for 2005’ is being held on Monday October 17 from 6pm; Mano’s Celebrity Barman on Tuesday October 18 from 6pm; the Mano’s VB V8 Superlunch on Thursday October 20; ‘Girls just want to have fun at Mano’s’ from 12 noon on Friday October 21; the Mano’s fires on all cylinders Dinner Show on Saturday October 22; and the ‘Fast and Furious at Mano’s’ on Sunday October 23.
Also not to be missed is the Black & White Indy Luncheon at Palazzo Versace on Thursday October 21. This is another glamour charity Event of the Lexmark Indy 300 which will feature exquisite food and wine, exclusive fashion, and vibrant entertainment with all proceeds benefiting official charities Surf Life Saving Queensland and CanTeen. What would the Lexmark Indy 300 be without its Gala Ball at Conrad Jupiters, and this year it promises to be the biggest and best yet. To be staged on Friday October 21, the Gala Ball will feature a spectacular line up of entertainment including UK classical pop group of girls WILD, Boogielicious and Rhonda Burchmore. Lexmark Indy 300 General Manager James O’Brien said the variety of events on the Off Track Calendar has evolved the Lexmark Indy 300 into an entertainment carnival captivating Queensland and wider markets.
“Some of the Official Off Track Events are national in their own right including ‘Bartercard Miss Indy’ and ‘Sing Your Way To Lexmark Indy 300’,” said O’Brien.
“However it is the way that the Gold Coast and wider South East Queensland region become involved with a host of events that makes the Lexmark Indy 300 so unique.

The Lexmark Indy 300 Events Advisory Committee (EAC) has confirmed a quality schedule of 40 Off Track Events designed to captivate Queensland, with some exciting new initiatives and plenty of annual favourites on offer.
There are a number of new features added to the calendar in 2005 including the ‘V8 Supercar – Licenced To Thrill’ Luncheon at Conrad Jupiters on Wednesday October 19 from 12.30pm, followed by the inaugural Champ Car and V8 Supercar Driver’s Parade through the streets of Surfers Paradise at 5pm.
A V8 Supercar Championship Series Charity Golf Day at Hope Island Resort Golf Club on Friday October 14, and Sharon Anyos’ World Boxing Council title fight at Gold Coast Convention Centre on Saturday October 22 also headline some other new sporting events on the program in 2005.
Although the Lexmark Indy 300 doesn’t get underway until Thursday October 20, Wednesday promises to be a day of pure motor racing indulgence.
The inaugural ‘V8 Supercar – Licenced To Thrill’ luncheon will be staged at Conrad Jupiters, with tickets on sale at the Conrad Jupiters Box Office on phone (07) 5592 8303 for $69 per person or $550 per table of 8, including a two course lunch.
Then the ‘free’ Driver’s Parade coordinated by Surfers Paradise Management will officially welcome all Champ Car and V8 Supercar drivers onto the streets of Surfers Paradise in some of Australia’s best convertible hot rods presented by Raceline. Joining them for the Surfers Paradise parade will be the Bartercard Miss Indy and Bartercard Miss V8 Supercar girls.
Surfers Paradise will certainly come alive during the Lexmark Indy 300. In addition to the Driver’s Parade will be the popular annual Carnivale of Colours street parade on the Friday and Saturday nights, and the Centro Surfers Paradise Aerial Angels on Thursday night. These extraordinary aerial acrobats will perform a breathtaking show high above the crowd in Cavill Mall featuring famed performer Natalie Harris from Cirque Du Soleil’s ‘Quidam’.
There will also be a number of other popular annual Off Track Events including the Champ Car Driver’s Breakfast at Conrad Jupiters on Thursday October 20 and the traditional ‘Lexmark Indy 300 Hits Brisbane’ this year being staged in King George Square on Saturday October 1 from 10am to 1pm.
The Champ Car Driver’s Breakfast at Conrad Jupiters always whets the appetites for Champ Car fans before the drivers actually hit the track, and is traditionally the first opportunity for the public to meet and speak to the drivers in Australia. It has cemented its spot on Thursday October 20 from 8.30am with tickets just $45 available from the Conrad Jupiters Box Office on phone 07 5592 8303.
Past Gold Coast winners such as Paul Tracy, Cristiano da Matta and Ryan Hunter-Reay will feature alongside other current day stars including Australia’s own Marcus Marshall and his Team Australia compatriot Canadian Alex Tagliani, Sebastien Bourdais from France and Justin Wilson from England.
There will also be plenty of extreme action in the lead up to the Lexmark Indy 300 brought to the Gold Coast by Raceline with both Street Torque II and the King of the Coast freestyle motocross competition taking place on October 1 and 2 at Parkland Showgrounds.
Street Torque will include a display of up to 500 awesome Street Machines, custom cars, classic, rods, hi-tech imports as well as a sound off, dyno comp, Harley show, burnout comp, drag cars, bikini competition, body painting and airbrushing.
The King of the Coast is one of the biggest and toughest Freestyle Motocross competitions in Australia and this year will feature Australian international superstar Robbie Madison who is returning from Europe for the special event. Raceline is also presenting the Indy Muscle Car Show and the Indy Vette Sprints – American Muscle Car Gymkhana and Show’n’Shine, both being held at the Broadwater Car Park in Southport on Sunday October 16 and free for the public to attend.
