LEXMARK INDY 300 ‘HITS BRISBANE’ ON SATURDAY OCTOBER 1

Friday, 23 September 2005
Brisbane will get another taste of Indy Fever next Saturday October 1 when ‘Lexmark Indy 300 Hits Brisbane’ in King George Square in the CBD for a free family day of entertainment.

Champ Car drivers Alex Tagliani and Marcus Marshall (Team Australia) and V8 Supercar drivers David Besnard, Craig Baird (WPS Racing) and Mark Winterbottom (Orrcon Racing) will lead a throng a motor racing stars attending the ‘Lexmark Indy 300 Hits Brisbane’.

Less than a month ago, Brisbane stopped and watched in awe as history was made in the CBD as a Champ Car and two V8 Supercars roared through the streets to officially launch the 2005 Lexmark Indy 300.

Now next Saturday October 1 from 10am to 1pm, families, fans and shoppers will have the opportunity to see what the Lexmark Indy 300 is all about, meet leading drivers and enjoy a host of entertainment.

Canadian Tagliani and Aussie Marshall will be at King George Square straight after jetting into Brisbane Airport from the US where they have been competing in the Champ Car World Series.

They will join the V8 Supercar drivers plus drivers from each of the support categories at the Lexmark Indy 300 - Jonathon Webb from the Wright Patton Shakespeare Carrera Cup, Travis Edwards from the CARSguide Aussie Racing Cars and Ryal Harris from the Yokohama V8 Utes. A driver autograph session will be held at 11.30am in King George Square for fans.

Along with the driver contingent will be Bartercard Miss Indy and Bartercard Miss V8 Supercar girls; Network Ten celebrities; and display cars including a Champ Car, V8 Supercar, Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car, V8 Ute and Aussie Racing Car.

The public will also get the chance to test their wheel changing skills on the Orrcon Racing wheel changer, win competition prizes, enjoy roving entertainment, and a Triple M barbecue on the day with proceeds directed to the Lexmark Indy 300 official charities Surf Life Saving Queensland and CanTeen.

Spectators will also hear about the new Ride Free to Lexmark Indy 300 initiative where all Lexmark Indy 300 ticket holders can travel for free on the Queensland Rail Citytrain and Surfside Buslines network over the four days of Indy on presentation of their Indy ticket.

Lexmark Indy 300 General Manager James O’Brien said the fourth annual Lexmark Indy 300 ‘Hits Brisbane’ was designed to showcase the many features that make Queensland’s premier Event on the Gold Coast so popular.

“The first three family days we held at South Bank proved to be resounding success, and now we have decided to take it into the CBD to King George Square. It is always a great preview to the main show which will hit the Gold Coast from October 20 to 23,” said O’Brien.

“We try to incorporate a selection of many Lexmark Indy 300 features including drivers, cars, Bartercard Miss Indy and Bartercard Miss V8 Supercar girls, interactive displays, and our official charities CanTeen and Surf Life Saving Queensland.”
