The first race was held in March 1991. This will be the 18th race to be held through the streets of Surfers Paradise. In 2003, the V8 Supercars accepted a double headline with the IndyCars and now recognise the Gold Coast Indy 300 as an official round of their Championship Series.

What is the easiest way to get to the Gold Coast Indy 300?
Getting to the Gold Coast Indy 300 has never been easier. Your 2008 Gold Coast Indy 300 Ticketek ticket will give you free public transport to and from the Event. This includes all Surfside
Buses and QR trains running within the Citytrain Network. Please note: You must be in possession of a valid Gold Coast Indy 300 Ticketek ticket to be allowed free access onto the trains and buses. Various forms of accreditation including volunteers and corporate hard cards will be acknowledged.
Travelling by Car from the North.
Parking is extremely limited in and around the Surfers Paradise and Southport areas and we advise you not to bring your vehicle as traffic can be chaotic If you decide to drive, hassle free parking is available at Parklands Showgrounds on Smith Street, Southport at a cost of
$6.00 per day or $20 for the 4 days. From there the free Gold Coast Indy 300 Shuttle Bus will take you directly to Main Gate North. Free shuttle buses depart regularly from Parklands Showgrounds
from Thursday October 23, 2008 starting at 6.00am.
Travelling by Car from the South.
Parking is extremely limited in and around the Surfers Paradise and Southport areas and we advise you not to bring your vehicle as traffic can be chaotic. If you decide to drive hassle free parking will be available at Carrara Stadium on Broadbeach/Nerang Road. From there the
Gold Coast Indy 300 shuttle buses will take you to Surfers Paradise for entry through Main Gate South on The Esplanade. Free shuttle buses depart regularly from Carrara from Thursday October 23, 2008 starting at 6.00am.
Bus.
Surfside Buslines operate from Coolangatta to Southport, 24 hours a day. On Saturday 25 October and Sunday 26 October 2008, additional buses will operate from Broadbeach, Helensvale Rail and Parklands Showgrounds. All you have to do is park along a bus route and utilize the free Surfside Bus service to the track upon presentation of your Gold Coast Indy 300 Ticketek ticket.
Taxi.
Taxi ranks are located just outside Main Gates North and South. Regent Taxis can be contacted on 13 10 08. Yellow Cabs can be contacted on 13 19 24.
Train
Travel free on the QR CityTrain Network from your home station. For access to Main Gate North disembark the train at Helensvale and catch The free Surfside Busline transfers to Indy's Main Gate North and return. For access to Main Gate South, disembark from the train at Nerang
Station and catch the shuttle bus to Surfers Paradise for access to South Gate and return.

Helicopter:
Gold Coast Helicopters shuttle service will be available from Parklands Showgrounds, landing directly inside the Gold Coast Indy 300 track. Gold Coast Helicopters will also be offering the shuttle service from Jupiters Casino, the Gold Coast Airport and Brisbane Airport.
This year’s Gold Coast Indy 300 will have outdoor smoking areas for its patrons to comply with the Queensland Government’s anti-smoking laws.
Patrons will only be permitted to smoke in these outdoor smoking areas. Patrons face a $150 on-the-spot fine if caught smoking outside of these areas but within the Gold Coast Indy 300 precinct.
The outdoor smoking areas will be located in multiple spots right around the circuit, and will be well signed and communicated to patrons. No food or drink will be permitted within these areas.
This is a continuation of Gold Coast Indy 300’s compliance with the anti-smoking laws. Grandstands and corporate suites are smoke free zones.
The new anti-smoking laws that apply to the Gold Coast Indy 300 include:
* Any outdoor eating or drinking area provided by the event must be no smoking. An outdoor eating or drinking area is any outdoor area in which people are allowed to consume food or drink that has been provided by the event.
* No smoking within 10 metres of any part of children’s playground equipment.
* No smoking within 4 metres of a non-residential building entrance
What access and seating is available for disabled patrons and wheelchair access?
Reserved Seating for disabled persons is available in Bronze Stand number 18 located at the Beach Esses on the Beach side end of the track. This stand will have an area for approx 12 disabled persons and seats located directly behind for Carers. This ticket is a four (4) day Reserved ticket and no concession price is offered. Best access for this stand is via Main Gate South on the Esplanade or Gate 40 at Main Beach Parade to the North of the precinct. These seats are located in Row A & B.
General Admission - Any disabled person who purchases a single day GA or a 4-Day GA ticket may gain access to the Disabled Stands #70 & #22.
S70 is situated on Pit Straight at the Northern end of the precinct. It is a specially constructed covered platform which has a ramp for easy access. Seating is not reserved. Disabled toilets are situated adjacent to the stand.
On the entry to the Beach Chicane is an additional covered platform (S22) that will also have a ramp for easy access and disabled toilet located directly adjacent to the platform. Best access for this stand is along the Beach front entering Main gate South on the Esplanade.
Disabled parking and wheelchair access is available in Commodore Drive, Paradise Waters at Main Beach Parade Main Beach and on The Esplanade Surfers Paradise vehicles displaying the Disabled Sticker.
What is the WILL CALL Office and where is it located?
The WILL CALL Office is a collection point for persons who need to collect their tickets or accreditation at the precinct. It is located at the South Gate on the Esplanade, Surfers Paradise.
The WILL CALL office is open 24 hours a day during the Event - from 7pm Wednesday 22 October to 3pm Sunday 26 October. At 5:00pm each day, the Will Call Office closes and all accreditation is moved to the Security Shed located just North of the WILL CALL Office. Due to the guards patrolling, patrons may have to wait a little while for the guards to return.
Who needs the WILL CALL Office?
Interstate guests who arrive before the track opens in the morning or guests who arrive after the track closes in the evening who need access to accommodation houses within the precinct.
WILL CALL Office is also a pick-up point for non-specific items for a variety of on-track staff and volunteers during the event.
Due to the security guards patrolling, patrons may have to wait a short while for the guards to return.
What is Students Day?
Schools throughout QLD and Northern NSW receive an invitation to Student Day, being held on Thursday the 23rd of October. The invitation is free of charge. The ticket allows general admission, as well as flexi-stand seating to any person holding a 'Student Day' accreditation. Student Day is designed to give an insight into the event as well as giving educational value.

Will there be a direct telecast of the Event?
Yes. There will be a direct telecast with Network 7, however, this does not cover all four days of the Event. Telecast times are yet to be confirmed.
There will also be on track coverage of the Event through Indy FM Television. This broadcast will be exclusive to patrons who attend the track.
Will there be a radio broadcast of the Event?
Indy FM TV is the on-track broadcaster, this commentary is provided to the Event patrons only.
90.9 Sea FM broadcast live from the Event everyday, however, this broadcast will only include interviews with the drivers, result updates and finding interesting patrons to talk to.
